We just finished the Jameson tour, it was really fun! Better than the Guinness one. It was cheaper and it was a guided tour. So we all felt like we learned so much more than from the Guinness one. We learned the history of the company, how the whiskey is made, how it is different from other whiskeys scotches and bourbon. Plus we got a whiskey drink at the end...and, during the beginning she asked for six volunteers for a whiskey tasting lesson, three guys three girls. Well, all the guys raised their hand and for no rhyme or reason I was one of the three random ones chosen.
So after the tour when everyone got a whiskey cocktail, I got one too but then sat down with the other five and we got to taste test three Irish whiskeys, one american (jack daniels) and a scotch. My favorite of the five was the Irish Whiskey called Paddys. It was great.
I got a special 'Whiskey Tasting Diploma' ... with my name on it ... don't be jealous :)
If you are in or near dublin, I do highly recommend this tour. It is informative and really inexpensive, one of the most inexpensive things we have done since being here!
